project goals

In collaboration with the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) and U.S. Forest Service, Drone America has participated in wildland fire surveillance projects. Our drones were deployed during controlled burn operations in Nevada to gather infrared imagery of fire lines and monitor for spot fires. Equipped with thermal cameras, our UAS provided DOI fire managers with live maps of fire intensity, allowing them to make timely decisions to protect firefighters and communities. This work is part of a broader DOI initiative to use technology for safer wildfire management, and Drone America’s contributions have been instrumental in developing standard operating procedures for drones in national wildfire response.

the result

This project demonstrated the effectiveness of UAS in wildland fire surveillance, improving safety and decision-making in wildfire response efforts.
